UPDATED NOVEMBER 5 — FOURTH UNOFFICIAL INYO REPORT. In the latest election-night snapshot, Lone Pine Measure Z has 270 Yes votes (78.72%) to 73 No (21.28%), concerning the proposed reinstatement of an emergency-response services tax. This replaces the earlier 200-to-52 mail-only snapshot preserved below; approval still depends on the lawful threshold and final canvass.
Latest Lone Pine Unified regular board contest
For three full-term trustee seats, the county reports Scott W. Kemp 274, Cord Hunter 273, Rachel Yourgules 188, Greg Rickets 157 and Joseph Beaton 91 candidate selections. The first report’s label ‘Benton’ in our older snapshot below should be read as Beaton, the name printed in the later official county results transcription. The third-place gap is 31 selections, not a declaration that the third seat has been won.
Separate two-year term: Smith leads
For the independent two-year trustee seat, Dominic P. Smith has 155 votes, followed by Alex Quezada 113 and Sally Clausen 94. Voters should not combine those selections with the different full-term race. The county still lists large numbers of unprocessed mail, provisional and challenged ballots. Its next update is expected November 6.

Earlier first mail-only report
LONE PINE, Inyo County — November 4, 2026. Preliminary early-vote totals show a large Yes majority on Measure Z, the Lone Pine special emergency response services tax reinstatement. At the same time, voters are choosing trustees for two different Lone Pine Unified School District terms.
Measure Z first results
In the 8 p.m. county first report reproduced by Sierra Wave, Measure Z has 200 Yes votes (79.37%) and 52 No (20.63%). This is only the first mail-ballot release; whether the measure ultimately passes depends on the official statutory threshold and final canvass. Do not equate early Yes support with official passage.
Regular-term school board race
For three regular governing board seats, the same early report records Cord Hunter 207, Scott W. Kemp 201, Rachel Yourgules 154, Greg Rickets 115 and Joseph Beaton 64.
Separate two-year board seat
In the special two-year trustee contest, Dominic P. Smith 112, Alex Quezada 84 and Sally Clausen 68 appeared in the first count. These are separate ballots and cannot be aggregated with the three-seat regular-term contest.
See the Inyo County Elections page for later summaries, including the 12:13 a.m. fourth report. All totals in this report are unofficial election-night snapshots, not certified results. Precincts reporting does not necessarily mean every eligible mail, provisional, or signature-cure ballot has been counted.
